New kids on the punk block WSTR have unleashed the awesome new music video for their latest single ‘Footprints’. The single is the second to be taken from upcoming debut album Red, Green or Inbetween, which is set for release on 20th January via No Sleep Records. We love the new track from WSTR because, well, let’s be honest, we love WSTR! And if you haven’t heard of them yet, let us tell you just why we adore them…
They’ve done so much with so little!
Off the back of just one EP (the brilliant SKRWD, released in September last year) WSTR have managed to really get about over the past year. They traveled the UK’s festival circuit in the summer, including Slam Dunk Festival, 2000 Trees and Butserfest, and toured with the likes of Moose Blood and Creeper. They’ve even lined up their own headline tour, which sets off on 24th October in Dundee and continues throughout November. Not bad for one EP, right?
Their new music is SO killer!
Given the hype from SKRWD, we had high expectations from what WSTR would get up to next. But they’ve only gone from strength to strength, releasing gritty, raw punk tunes with great hooks and fun angst. Speaking of the latest single ‘Footprints’, frontman Sammy Clifford has said: “Two people growing apart and even though you might still love that person, you know it isn’t right and you are desperately trying to cling on. In the end you just have to let some things go.”
They’re living the dream we ALL want to live
Okay, so maybe you don’t want to be a musician. But when the guys in WSTR started the band, Clifford says: “We were all in a situation of waking up every morning, going to work, coming home, going to sleep. It felt like we were just wasted space & not really doing much with our lives other than working. This band has given us all something to do & to be proud of. Putting out an album is a big scary step, but it’s been a long time coming and we’re ready to see what the world has to say and hopefully see some more of it”.
And we’ve all been there, right? We’ve all felt stuck; perhaps doing a job we hate, being with someone we don’t like, not fulfilling our potential. But WSTR are a great example of how you really can get yourself out of that rut and do what you love, not to mention making a real success of it. It’s inspiring, it’s ambitious, and we love it.
